MTV Announces Popzilla

MTV just announced Animax's Popzilla as part of it's upcoming slate of shows. As per the release: "The network's 2009 programming slate continues to reflect a directional shift geared toward the millennial generation, with shows that are aspirational, escapist and optimistic."

POPZILLA: Nobody is safe from Popzilla. A rapid-fire half hour animated sketch show that relentlessly skewers the excesses of pop culture. With a unique creative voice and style, the show uses animation that allows for quick turnaround -- Popzilla is built to take on the headlines of the day. With a quick pace, and many sketches under a minute, Popzilla is made to live on-air, online and on mobile platforms. Executive Producers: Dave Thomas (SCTV, Bob & Doug), Tim Hedrick, Jared Miller, R.J. Fried, Kevin Pedersen. Animated by Animax.

Bob & Doug Premiere!

That's right, it's finally here. The premiere episode of Bob & Doug launches this Sunday night April 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT in Canada on Global TV. Check out the show's website. The animated McKenzie Brothers first starred in a short piece for the DVD release of Strange Brew, and then it all just snowballed from there. Now everyone (well, Canadians at the very least) will be able to see Bob & Doug McKenzie on a weekly basis. Animax is very proud to see all those years of hard work and determination to see the show come to fruition finally pay off. We hope to see the show take off, eh, big time. (Sorry, we just had to drop one of those references in there.)

Pushing Mankind Forward

Well, this video is really old now so the archival look is really appropriate. Nobody has ever seen it except for a few select Animax employees from the early days. Created for Sundance Channel it never saw the light of day and it might not live out there in the universe for too long so take a gander at it while you can. It's a Flash animated peek into the not so distant future.
